Okay, so I’ve been getting into collecting Pokemon cards again, specifically the Sun and Moon series. It’s been a wild ride, so I figured I’d share my journey, from total newbie to slightly-less-total newbie.

Digging Through Old Boxes
It all started when I was cleaning out my attic. I stumbled upon a box of my old stuff, and guess what? A bunch of random Pokemon cards! They weren’t organized or anything, just a jumbled mess. Most were from when I was a kid, base set stuff, some jungle, you know. But it sparked that old collecting itch.
Getting My Feet Wet
I decided to focus on the Sun and Moon sets because, well, they’re newer, and I figured they’d be easier to find. I started by hitting up local card shops. Man, those places are intimidating! Everyone seemed to know exactly what they were looking for, and I was just standing there like a lost puppy.
I picked up a few booster packs, just to get a feel for it. Ripping those open was fun, brought back memories. Of course, I didn’t get anything amazing, mostly commons and uncommons. But hey, it was a start!
Online Hunt
Then I discovered the wonderful world of online buying. Browsing through different web, looking at all the listings, that was a whole new level. I spent hours just scrolling, comparing prices, trying to figure out what was a good deal and what wasn’t. It’s a jungle out there!
- I learned to look for card condition – Mint, Near Mint, Played… it’s a whole language.
- I figured out that some cards are way more valuable than others – GX, Rainbow Rares, Full Arts… it’s crazy!
- I realized I needed a better way to organize my cards, so I bought some binders and sleeves. Gotta protect those investments!
The Thrill of the Chase
I’ve managed to snag a few cool cards so far. Nothing super expensive, but cards that I think are neat. I got a pretty sweet Full Art Lillie, and a couple of GX cards that I’m really happy with. The feeling when you find a card you’ve been looking for, it’s awesome!
Still Learning
It’s been a learning process, for sure. I’m still making mistakes, probably overpaying for some things, but I’m having fun. And that’s what matters, right?
It has become really funny to do it.
