Okay, so I’ve been diving deep into astrology lately, like really deep. And today, I wanted to mess around with understanding my own chart better, specifically focusing on my Sun in Aquarius and Ascendant in Scorpio. I’m no expert, just a curious learner sharing my journey.

First, I pulled up my birth chart. I’ve used a few different websites before, but this time I just used whatever popped up first on Google. I entered my birth date, time, and location. Boom! There it was, my chart, all circles and lines and symbols. Honestly, it still looks a bit like hieroglyphics to me, but I’m getting there.
I located the symbol for Aquarius (it looks like two wavy lines) and found where it intersected with the “Sun” label. Okay, Sun in Aquarius, got it. Then, I looked for the Ascendant, which is usually marked as “AC” or “Asc” on the chart’s left side. And there it was, pointing right into the Scorpio section. Ascendant in Scorpio, check.
Now, what does this even mean? That’s where the real digging started.
I opened up a bunch of new tabs – some astrology blogs, a few forums, even a couple of YouTube videos. I basically started soaking up as much info as I could about each placement individually.
Sun in Aquarius
- Read that Aquarians are known for being independent, quirky, and maybe a little rebellious.
- Noted that they’re often seen as humanitarians, with a strong desire to make the world a better place.
- Jotted down some keywords: innovative, unconventional, intellectual, detached.
Some of this resonated, some of it… not so much. I mean, I definitely like to do my own thing, and I’m all about fighting for the underdog, but “detached”? I don’t think so.
Ascendant in Scorpio
- Discovered that the Ascendant, or Rising sign, represents how you present yourself to the world – your outer persona.
- Learned that Scorpio Risings can come across as intense, mysterious, and maybe even a little intimidating.
- Wrote down: magnetic, passionate, private, perceptive.
Okay, “intense” I can see. I’ve been told I have a pretty strong gaze. “Mysterious”? Maybe. I do like to keep some things to myself.
The next step was trying to figure out how these two placements interact. This is where it got tricky. It felt like putting together two puzzle pieces that didn’t quite fit.
I spent a good hour just reading different interpretations. Some sources said the Aquarius Sun’s rebellious streak could be amplified by the Scorpio Ascendant’s intensity. Others suggested that the Scorpio Ascendant might make the Aquarius Sun appear more reserved or secretive than a typical Aquarian.
I started to think about my own experiences. How do I feel these energies playing out in my life? I definitely feel the pull between wanting to be different and unique (Aquarius) and also having this deep-seated need for privacy and control (Scorpio). It’s like a constant internal tug-of-war.
Honestly, I’m still processing it all. It’s not like I had some huge “aha!” moment. But it was a cool exercise in self-reflection. I realized that astrology, for me, isn’t about finding definitive answers, it’s more about exploring different facets of myself and gaining a little more self-awareness. I plan on continuing, moving on to different parts of the chart in the future. It feels like a long, and probably, a fun journey!
